CHARLES HARRISON

Charles is a freelance composer, sound designer, orchestrator, arranger and musician who has worked professionally since 2014. His clients include: The National Trust, Dorset Police, Arts University Bournemouth & Bournemouth University, Time Team Digital, to name but a few... Charles is also Director and Co-Founder of 'Resonix Creative Ltd.'​, an innovative and creative new business working in tourism and heritage industries to tell their stories through creative processes.

 

Charles has worked with Lego stop-motion animator: Michael Hickox Films between 2014 - 2016. Together they worked on 31 different videos, for each of which Charles composed original scores. Their catalogue includes standalone short films, web series', and promotional videos for companies such as CBC Network, iTech Solutions and Loot Crate. These videos are hosted on YouTube and have been viewed a combined total of over 145 million times (to date: Nov. 2023).

 

Charles is a multi-instrumentalist, adept on violin/viola, drums/percussion, piano, and even owns a guzheng - which is fun to use in compositions and for effects! He also plays and records guitar, accordion and other instruments for use in his music videos and Play Along tutorials/backing tracks.

Charles has played in folk bands, classical ensembles, jazz bands, and punk bands. He currently plays fiddle, viola, BVs, and stomp box in country/Americana originals and cover band: Oconee Bell; Fiddle and percussion in European traditional folk band: Fremsley; fiddle in folk/country band: The Raven Kings; and fiddle in jazz band: Tipsy Swing.

 

Charles graduated Bournemouth University in 2019, receiving a First Class Honours degree in B(Sc) Music and Sound Production Technology. In 2021, Charles set up a creative business called Resonix Creative Ltd. which provides creative audio/visual solutions for a variety of projects. As a result, Charles has been composing music in a vast range of styles, producing rich sound design for an array of projects, working on visual effects and live action set pieces, as well as managing and organising projects and the business as a whole at a Director level.

 

In 2023/24, Charles is keen to start sharing his musical knowledge with young people through instrument tuition, whilst continuing to work on composition commissions, writing songs and producing original music, and playing in bands.
